Re. the library - I have the ALUG copy of "Cathedral and Bazaar" still. Wat does the librarian job involve?
wearing glasses and going "Sssshhhhhhh!" lots
:)
actually it means going to lots of meetings and taking books and making
sure
who says they have a book has it, and tracking them down etc. Bit like
running
a library really but more distributed. I don't mind being librarian now,
as I
will actually be coming to meetings again, (i promise not to move outside
East
Anglia again for at least a month or two ;)) unless you want to do it.

I thought about a very simple database up on the website with a catalogue of books in one table and the ins and outs by different people in another, but this requires a server with postgres enabled. (I've got one, as it happens, but it would end up being a separate entity from the main alug site). Also my attendance at meetings has been low recently due mostly to house renovation, so I wouldn't be so good at the being there behind the book counter hissing when you speak and frowning. And I don't wear glasses. I'll whisk up a database if it would be useful, though. Let me know. Jenny.
