Indeed it was.
I finally got to put names/email addresses to faces, which was nice ;)..
Yeah, including these pesky people I haven't seen for a couple of years. ;-)

I went to the Linux Expo and all I got was these lousy business cards. Enjoy it those who are going today.
Hey, who's going to the September Birmingham ones? An exhibitor I spoke to said he thought that Brum would have more stands, as they're not charging as much to show there. Also, I believe the Free Software Foundation Europe UK affiliate *may* be launched/announced there. If you want more info on FSFE-UK, ask me now and I'll dig it out.

I think Some one needs to get the 3 foot inflatable penguin next time!
The conversation in which my penguin was liberated went something like this.
"My LUG has nominated me to come and liberate your inflatable penguin" "You can't have him" "Can I have the stuffed one from the Rack over there then? "what stuffed one over there" "thank you"
<fx action="grabs penguin and runs"/>
Thanks

All,
OK, imagine 40 nerds/geeks/linux users.
Now imagine one of them has aquired a foot high fluffy penguin, and one has a 3 fott long white fluffy tail!
Right, now imagine what happens when this lot decides to get from olympia to bond street. Yup, We marched through with penguin held hi chanting FOLLOW THE PENGUIN! And when we got to Bond street Tube station, a signal 11 was sent and we shouted CORE DUMP PENGUINS OUT, and exitted the tube station, we then followed the pengiun to a bar some where near oxford street where we had a mass lug meet with people from all over, including some, fewer or more from the ALUG. INtroductions were done on a "Name, Distribution, Editor" basis and we all did a
#include <beer.h> with lots of beer--
Upon demonstrating my haul for the day to the block from Linux Magazine, he has asked me to right an article on scrounging good freebes at Expos!
Total haul for the day.
1 penguin -- see above 3 IBM footballs 1 IBM T-shirt 1 IBM paper wait (the one which doesn't run windows) 1 Linux Magazine Bottle opener Lots of business cards and even more strange looks
All in all a fun time was had by all.
Thanks
