The City Gate used to be a Wetherspoons; the Reindeer is opposite it and a much nicer pub these days.

The Reindeer also used to be the Reindeer about 10 years ago, but then it became the Finnesko and Firkin when Firkin took the place over (perhaps 8 years ago?) and then it became the Reindeer again a few years ago, which doesn't help for the amount of confusion that some of us suffer when pubs do things like that when you move away and come back again.
