Hi People,
Does anyone have one of the above? as I have had my vaio with transmeta processor for a few months now and havn't got around to installing linux (no netboot, no cd-rom drive, no floppy drive, and loadlin doesn't work grrr..).
I have tried loadlin and the kernel does not come up!? and using a USB floppy is ok but I havn't now got the floppy drive as it was borrowed and I would need to make new boot disks with USB floppy support (which is a pain).
also I have been ill for the past week so may not make it on Sunday, and almost certainly won't have new Debian cd's.

I don't have a CD-ROM drive, but I _do_ have a VAIO runinng Linux (though an old one, not a Crusoe-based one). I installed Linux by using the RedHat 7 netboot disk, then doing a network-based install direct from a web-site. You're welcome to come to Essex and do the same from here. I do have an ulterior motive: I'm thinking of replacing my VAIO and would like to see what the new machine is like!

Yeah but the problem is I can't use a netboot disk or anything because I don't have a floppy drive or CD-rom drive and the bios doesn't support Bootp and loadlin doesn't want to work for some reason (though I suspect this is to do with Windows ME). Does anyone else have any ideas on how to get linux (preferably Debian) onto this machine? (without me going and spending £200 on the CD-drive) I do have access to a USB floppy but don't want to rebuild boot disks if I can help it. Anyway If I come on Sunday I will be bringing the machine with me.
