Bought a 500 Gig SATA drive and a portable enclosure to corral it, the idea being to install the latest Mint on it, and update Thunderguts and Firefox (or whatever it's called this week), then transfer what I want from the drive in my MSi notebook.
I plug in the USB connections and a pretty blue light comeson, the drive is spinning, but there is no sign of it where there should be.
True, I haven't played with the jumpers yet, but surely, there ought to be *some* acknowledgement that there's a drive there?
And what number has Mint reached? I'm running 14 at present, and I have a feeling that it's a bit too long in the tooth...

On my minty machine they end up in /media/nev/<diskname>

AFAICT mint is now up to version 17.1 (Rebecca)

Found that pretty bloo light (not Billy Bluelight) indicates that Mint is *still* examining the drive. Unfortunately, it is unable to read the partition data- probably because there isn't any
