I'll "shed light" even. If replies are cc'd to the author, that will usually arrive before the copy from the list does. Messages themselves do not travel out of order, but sometimes local mail problems at your ISP can mean that mail 14 will arrive after mail 13 and things like that because of the retry intervals.
