Hrm,
Not received any ALUG mail since the 8th... Either something's borked or it's been _really_ quiet around here lately.
Assuming people can read this message, can we have a stab at discussing the next (physical) meeting of the group? Third Sunday in November perhaps?

It's been really quiet. I've been really busy myself, what with trying to organise my own wedding as well as trying to sell a house, and balancing lots of other things in between.

It would be a good idea. I have just been sent a huge parcel from SuSE containing the Professional edition of SuSE Linux 7.0 and it's a whopper. Contains loads of manuals, 6 CDs and 1 DVD ROM, some stickers, a Tux button (a proper clothes button - not the kind you stick on your PC) and lots of other stuff.
I'd quite like to bring it along to the next meeting for all to see and use :)
Regards,
Martyn

As I seem to be the groups resident nutter when it come to installing different distros I like to have a go with that one. Always had probs wit SuSE and my hd controller in the past, be interested to see if they fixed it in v7.
Cheers, BJ

I've been quiet because I've been persuading the alug list to be a newsgroup, which now works very nicely indeed :-)
Well, that and my ISP going wobbly. And the fact that I am *still* waiting for my Debian potato CDs, argh. Still, I got to do a whois on the site (tree.uk.com) to find the owner, and ring him at home. He was, er, somewhat shocked. I got the impression that he was about 18. I was rather snotty with him, considering that they cashed my cheque about three weeks ago and I still have no CDs, so that should help. The website has no contact details at all, apart from webmaster@tree.uk.com, and mails to there seemed to be ignored. People: do not buy stuff from them.
And I *still* haven't looked at the alug website to see if I can help; given that site construction is what I do both at work and in my spare time (freelance work, loads of money, yay), I might be able to lend a hand...
...assuming that I can do CGIs in Python ;-)
Are we still thinking about talks at meetings? I'd be interested in seeing what the next one is...
Aq -- not that I'll make it, of course, because I'm useless

So that's why you were bouncing mail and confusing the hell out of me with the errors? TYVM ;-)
Was I? Oops :) I'm alpha-testing a replacement for newsgate. I thought that it was catching errors; do please accept my apologies...:( I think it's OK, now?
