Not really on topic here but I think this is the most likely group of people (I know) to have anything to offer...
Does anyone here know someone with SEO skills they can recommend (or are they that person themselves)?
I have a couple of customers interested in paying for the services of someone, but while it's easy to find people who claim to be great at SEO its definitely something I'd only want to pursue with recommendations.
PS: I'm only interested in White Hat SEO, no tricks or "guaranteed top 10 in Google" rubbish.
Hi Mark, I can recommend Danny Arpels. His business is 'a pond life ltd' and he is a web developer specialising in SEO.
He recently got one of my site to no1 on the first page of google.
His details are:
Danny Arpels A pond life ltd 01603 850340 07710 786 888 daniel@apondlife.com
Let me know if it works out.
many thanks,
Stuart

TTLLP does some SEO and related work. www.ttllp.co.uk or look near the top results for "webmaster cooperative" in the major search engines (Yahoo is odd at the mo, but one of our sites is on page 1). We also associate with an experienced ad placer if that's an option.
Words of caution: SEO helpers can only help; technical measures are essential, but the site authors or owners need to help too for it to succeed - this usually means some education or training is needed. If the site's a worthy cause and the authors or owners seem willing, I think TTLLP would be open to performance-based payment.
Best wishes,

Basically for the sites I'm talking about we maintain the sites anyway, and make fairly substantial code changes for them anyway. And we also do a fair bit of SEO work on the sites based on what we've worked out over the years, but its not our focus and we don't really have the skills to do a great job. So we're more than happy to follow up what we're advised to do.

Not sure what qualifies as a "worthy cause" in this context?

It's not really defined yet (we're only 6 years old), but for example: climate change, social inclusion, tackling crime, online ethics and modern co-operation.
