Two were suggested on sunday.
Both are Weatherspoons pubs so have a reasonable selection of beers, no music and good non-smoking areas.
The City Gate - corner of Dereham road and the inner ring road. Large pub, tends not to get too full. Plenty of parking nearby.
The Glasshouse on Magdelen street. Parking may not be so good but there is some nearby. Has a balcony and garden for the summer. Sounds very pleasant. Does it get packed out?
Any comments on these two venues or preferences between them? General rumblings amongst the beer drinkers is that it's time for a change away from the Forum. Not an issue for me but quite happy to move venue to somewhere else that is suitable in the other ways after suitable discussion.

Haven't we used this for an apri-UEA meet watering hole before?

I think so, but it's changed hands since then. If it's still similar, it's probably not a bad evening meeting place. From www.norwichpubs.info :
The City Gate has been sold to London and Edinburgh Inns, and will change hands on December 16th, 2003.

And that it did, it appears no one has yet noticed however, except the staff, who now don't have a strict dress code, and don't wander round with the Steak Night/Curry Night T-Shirts. Talking to the bloke there, there's not a lot of plans to actually change that much fwict, and it still has a reasonable (read 4 or 5 bitters, only one of which is John Smiths and thus almost undrinkable) selection of beverages on.
Tra la la - right - back to doing sommit less useful :)

OK, so before this thread dies, does anyone have any comments about the other suggestion, the Glasshouse, Wensum Street?
Anyone have a serious problem with changing the thursday evening venue next month, if we agree on an alternative?

Another suggestion - what is the Gardeners Arms (AKA The Murderers according to their website) on Timber Hill like?
It's a fine pub; it tends to be full of people from NU. Can get a bit noisy - they have a projector TV thing and show football or whatever when it's on, so you'd want to check that wasn't happening before any meet there.
