route tells you gateway settings and DNS names are in /etc/resolv.conf
I use peanut Linux.

Should... I intend to set up my own internal network and run ppp on demand with a firewall etc... but as yet can't get ppp working. so at the moment the network card isn't even connected to any cables.
So you almost certainly don't want a gateway on that network just yet. Can anyone who has done this recommend a good tutorial, as I don't fancy writing one ;-)
