As far as I can tell it appears as a standard video for linux device so anything that will work with v4l will work with the cam. I am currently using "tvtime" to watch tele with and I am pretty sure that it will work very nicely with the QX3 :)
Thanks for that, Adam. I picked up a copy of tvtime 0.9.12 and installed it and I get pictures. Unfortunately, I get vertically compressed images with a large green patch underneath. I've read the documentation over and over and I've tried experimenting with all sorts of settings, to no avail. Strangely, though, the captured images are the correct aspect ratio, but still with a large area of green under. Presumably it works better than that with your telly pictures?
I was thinking about getting a QX3 at some point, but then I found out that the zoom wasn't optical or something like that which put me off but if you can get
From what I can tell, the magnification (x10, x60, x200) is all done optically. For the price, it seems not too bad. I found an addition prog 'cpia-control' (uses Python) which is useful for setting the camera's parameters and also for controlling the object lamps.
Cheers,
Gerald.

Hmmmn, not sure :) Camorama seems to be quite a good tool for webcams is all gnome based and quite funky. I was just doing some digging looking for a few bits about the QX3 and found http://sourceforge.net/projects/qtx3/

What was the price? :) I was just digging trying to work out what put me off in the past but can't find what it was, although i recall that maybe intel advertised it as doing 640x480 but in reality the sensor only could capture 320x240 and the upsampling was done in software.
