PC Hardware Suppliers in Norfolk?
Being something of an old fogey I like to actually go and purchase any new PC spares over the counter (that is when I'm not scrounging old kit of friends and colleagues :o) ). In addition, I like to support local businesses where I can. So do list members know what outlets for PC kit exist in Norfolk (especially in and around Norwich)? And can anyone pass on any good/bad experiences they've had? URL for websites would be good. Regards, Keith ____________ Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look at what they can do when they stick together.
I've found MG Computers to be excellent. I've used them for about 10 years. Website - http://www.mgc.uk.com/ Just ignore the Christian propaganda if you're not that way inclined (like me). Matt Keith Watson wrote:

I had one encounter with them, when they sold me a Winmodem. To be fair, they took it back without complaint when the problem was found, as I had asked them. I sometimes use HBC near King's Lynn. Their ugly website is http://www.homeandbusinesscomputing.co.uk/ -- MJR/slef

Last time I spoke to him about modems, Steve, of Computers of Diss wouldn't sell winmodems at all. -- Tony http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/hi-fi/ The only way to tell when a Finn is in love with you is that they look at your feet instead of their own.
Since I spent only £50 on my brand new laser printer I am reluctant to pay more than that for a new toner cartridge. So, surfing the net I came across toner refils at a mere £15. Anyone tried them; are they any good? Ian -- Ian T-Bell aka RuffRecords aka RedTommo

I recently bought some toner from www.refilltoner.com for my ML-1710, for the first time. Delivery was prompt, filling was easy (my cartridge already had a plug I could just pry off), results look fine. No idea about the long-term performance. Filling is best done outside. -- Martijn

That's very good news. I have the ML-1510 which has the same cartridge and www.refilltoner.com was the web site I was thinking of too. Ian -- Ian T-Bell aka RuffRecords aka RedTommo

Not entirely certain, if the quality of the refill toner is as good as that it is replacing then there should be no problems, and you must take into account that you will only be able to refill the cartridge perhaps 2 or 3 times as (AIUI) laser toner carts have a waste trap for toner that has gone onto the roller and been heated up which will eventually fill up and stop you from using the refilled cartridge anymore. Oh, and the cheapest toner refills I have found in the .uk so far are http://www.consumablecafe.co.uk/ which seem to have good words written about them on usenet. Didn't know that, but even 2 refills at £16 is a significant improvement on £100 for two cartridges.

That's definitely the cheapest I've seen for my particular printer by a large margin. Thanks. Ian -- Ian T-Bell aka RuffRecords aka RedTommo

A possibly useful pointer on this topic: If you happen to be in Cambridge, pop in to Supercharge Toner Technology Unit 3b, 25 Gwydir St (From Mill Road, walk some distance down Gwydir St and there's an entrance on the left to a yard [where you can also park if driving] where you will find it on the left hand side), and have a word with the guy there (if he happens to be there). I've found him very useful in the past -- not only refilled cartridges (which I've not bought) but also unused (boxed) toner cartridges at very cheap prices (e.g. I used to buy cartridges for Brother HL 1070 for 10 quid). Also, he knows his way round the laser-printer field, and is willing to give useful information. Yes, but a spellcheck wouldn't pick that up. Needs a grandma check too. -- Tony http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/hi-fi/ The only way to tell when a Finn is in love with you is that they look at your feet instead of their own.
