Here's one for the Debian buffs out there (starter for 10 :o) )
Is it worth me downloading a set of the Debian (woody?) CD images (via the fast link here at work) or will it be easier to copy someone else's set?
Follow-up questions;
if (a) download, how do I get a jigdo image onto a CD? (straight copy or is there a special utility?)
if (b) copy CDs, where and when?

ummm, if you have access to a fast link where the machine is that you want to install debian on use one of the small (35Mb) boot images and then grab everything else over the network.
If you want to take the CDs home to install debian then you can use jigdo which is a program that gets all of the files that goes onto a debian CD and makes the .iso for you, although when i tried it i had no sucess. If you need CDs then you may be best off just grabbing .isos from one of the mirrors (istr i got mine from a debian mirror in the netherlands) if you want to install debian on lots of machines you may be best off with just making an mirror for the architectures you need.
Oh and finally you most likely would only need CD1, as this CD contains the most used software and the bits you need off the 2nd and 3rd CDs could be grabbed over dialup relatively painlessly but YMMV....

OK I know that HTH is Happy To Help but yer got me with HAND :o)
And back on topic, it seems there's a site http:\www.linuxiso.org that not only has the iso's for various distro's but also instructions for burning the cd's
If I manage to get some CD's out of this would anyone like me to bring some sets along to the next meeting (I'll need to charge for the cost of the media)?

You probably want to install dict and try asking it ;-) Included in its output is the following:

It's OK, I'm left-handed :o)
I have Woody and DemoLinux CDs images, but no burner at present. When I do, I can also do blanks+postage-price distribution for ALUGgers. Taking a few CDs to meetings is a good idea. There's always some willing victim^Wuser.
.. or just swapping the used CD's for some blank ones would be fine (got to keep the stock levels up :o) ).
