Is there any reason why someone with ubuntu 5.04 installed on a machine would use "--enable-gtk1" as an option to "./configure" ?
The ubuntu web site says it includes GNOME 2.10 so I'm thinking the user is somehow confused ?

Hatred of gtk2's oddities (^A is not "select all" damnit!), or maybe something that doesn't compile with the version of gtk2 on the system and the user did the simplest thing that could possibly work. Most likely, following old instructions.
