I have a number of standard Linux mailboxes setup in /var/mail and my mail is distributed among them using Procmail. My mail client is Ishmail, which reads directly from the files in /var/mail, and I'm running a fairly up to date Debian Testing but still using KDE 2. I update Debian every few days.

I also use kbiff to monitor 11 mailboxes. That has suddenly stopped working for 10 of the mailboxes except my username box in that it no longer recognises that new mail has arrived in the other 10 boxes.

Ishmail, my mail client, is set up to display 11 mail folders, one for each mailbox. These folders display a small white envelope if there is new mail present in the appropriate mailbox. That has also stopped working except for my username mail.

Anyone have any ideas as to what might cause this?
