I need to recruit software engineers with Linux skills for a client in East Anglia.
I've tried all the more obvious solutions, jobserve, jobsite etc.
Where would you go to look for a new job (any suggestions greatfully received).
Argghhh, where were you just over a month ago?? there was at least 3 of us in East Anglia looking for jobs and we all had linux skills!! anyhow we now all have positions but I mainly sent my CV out via jobserve, jobsite, gis-a-job and a few others but the responses from agencys was not great and they *always* promised to call back but it was not unusual to hear nothing for days. I also checked newspapers and registered with a few agencys directly.
It seems rather interesting then that agencys are not having much success with the websites along with the candidates though... I don't know of a better system though, any ideas anyone??

Hi folks,
Firstly, I'd highly recommend the services of Mortimer Spinks for East Anglian IT vacancies. When I was made redundant from Net Communications, they managed to get me an interview in Peterborough, plus a late interest from an ISP based in Cambridge. Very good - always call back, and friendly staff.
Alternatively, Planet Recruit (www.planetrecruit.co.uk) is one of the best web-based services. Submit your CV and you'll usually find three or four agencies giving you a call the same day.
I also try to apply to any companies that I would like to work for, and hope for the best. Sometimes it works and they want to interview you even if they don't have a vacancy (or if they think they can create a role for you based on your skills) or sometimes they don't bother to even respond.
I also recommend the following agencies that have brought me a little bit of luck:-
www.abraxas.com www.computerfutures.com
Right now, I'm on a week-long contract for Sports.com thanks to the efforts of Abraxas. I must admit that I don't particular like contract work, but it pays the bills.
Regards,
Martyn
