Ok, perhaps an exaggeration, but I've just received a mammoth tome, "Linux IP Stacks Commentary" as a free gift from CoriolisOpen Press. It's basically 500 pages of IP stack code printed out, with another 200 of discussion at the back.
The discussion seems to be quite interesting and entertaining, but the whole thing is based around 2.0.36. I don't know how much the IP stack has changed since then, but there is no mention of IPv6, for example.
Anyway.... the book is here, if you're interested in reading it, let me know before the next ALUG and I'll make sure it's there. If you want more info on Coriolis books, see www.coriolis.com .

People at Zeus have benchmarked 2.4 series kernels with the webserver and seen a 20~30% increase in performance over 2.2, which I believe is mainly down to stack optimisations.
Also I missed the Irc meet last night again, did anything interesting get said? any log available?
