Opening a Powerpoint presentation in Impress I find that one slide seems to be too big for the slide area. The last few lines of text are obscured by a grey block of colour which makes the white text impossible to read. How can I resize it? I would read the manual but I've got no idea where to start looking. (And the one I have got doesn't mention any incompatibility.)

Very difficult to tell without seeing it, but...
Usually a slide is made up of more than one component, each of the components (text area, graphic, etc) is a seperate object. Clicking on them should give you a set of resize handles, dragging those should resize things...
If you want to resize the whole thing, drag round the entire slide (that'll group all the objects in to one selection) and it should give you a set of resize handles. If when dragging the resize handles you hold the shift key it should resize and keep the aspect ratio of the seperate objects.
Hope that helps,
