Where was everybody?
I was there, John Atkinsonwas there, Two people from Bury St. Edmunds were there, (Iapologise for not having made a note of your names), and the host was there, (even Alison came after she had walked the dog). The venue was ideal, all the infrastructure to support everybodies toys, and yet the multitudes stayed away!
Hi John
Apologies for not making it - Got a job from a company in Florida last night that I need to get stuck into straight away. I doubt that even my boss will see me for most of the coming week.
On top of all this, I still haven't got everything ready for a conference at the end of April. Now I know know how the white rabbit felt in Wonderland.
Regards, Paul.
BTW Does anyone know of some good resources/information for low level programming for the PCI bus ??

It looks like "only" $500 for a copy of all specs in PDF form. Such "open" standards.
There are also a few books on PCI, eg. "PCI Systems Architecture" by Tom Shanley, etc. Tanenbaum covers it briefly (~6 pages) in "Structured Computer Organisation".

I have to apologise too -- tied up all day from dawn to midnight with little break!
I suppose I should have apologised in advance. However, this low turnout is by a long way untypical of ALUG meetings.
In the circumstances, the warmest thanks are due to Rob Tillyard for setting it up and being host, and sympathies for the disappointment.
Thanks, Rob.
Ted.

I have to agree with Ted this is very untypical of an average ALUG meeting where there is rarely less than 10 members show up. I do hope it doesn't dampen your enthusiasm for holding meetings.
Thanks for hosting Rob, sorry I didn't make it and get to meet you, hope to at the next one.
Cheers, BJ

That would be me and Alan.

Thanks to Rob for organising it. Indeed a superb venue - I'm sure if he feels like doing another meeting, we'd all have fun. Large desks and network points ahoy!

<excuses> Erm I didn't make it as everything was a bit late in the day for me to gather all of my enthusiasm especially when it comes to computers seeing as my laptop and 2 desktops and palm were all in different states of brokeness (not my fault, mainly hardware problems!) so i was going to spend time fixing things up on the weekend. (BTW I now have a Sparc with Debian unstable on =)) also the car insurance ran out last week so I didn't know if we would have a car until around thursday, then i would have had to put 30 quids worth of petrol in, which is not easy when you are owed 3100 quid from your last job and on the verge of going bankrupt.... </excuses>
Anyhow thats enough excuses from me, I do hope to make future meetings but it is now quite a bit more trouble to go as we spend 4-5 hours driving in a day to get to them, (oh and the stereo in the car is broken now! which makes journeys loads more boring)
I would say that a turnout that low is very untypical and the venue sounds absolutely fantastic, I hope to make it there soon.
