My first ALUG meeting was at Aylsham when Andrew Savory very kindly put
a Debian distro on my Packard Bell Executive, not without problems, but
he, unlike myself, had the experience to get out of them, it was fine
for a month or three, and then I tried to upgrade it, but only succeeded
in mucking the installation up - I have tried several distro's since
then, all with no success, apart from Lnx4Win from Mandrake which, of
course, runs on the window partition, so no problem, though it wasn't as
good or as fast as a dedicated partition for it. I have recently bought
a 2nd-hand Thinkpad 560E with Mandrake 7.0 installed on it for me, but I
would still like a 'proper' distro, preferably Debian, as I was very
much impressed with the one Andy put on, but I have several other
distro's on CD, including Suse 6.4 and all the Linux Format cover disks
plus others.
I would like, if possible - and if someone could install it for me - to
bring my computer to Sylham next Sunday along with all of my distro's if
needed, I have 3 CD's of Debian, but would like the latest one if I can.
Thanks
Terry
