Depends on what you claim as "half-decent" and how well you read manuals. Announce ALUG 2001.5

Announce ALUG 2001.5 The next meeting of ALUG (Anglian Linux User Group) will be on Sunday 16th September 2:00 - 6:00pm at Syleham and Wingfield Village Hall (Mid Suffolk venue). Venue details at http://www.alug.org.uk/venues/syleham.html I will of as ever volunteer to organise this meeting and any future Mid Suffolk meets. If enough people want it I might be able to get the bar opened for the afternoon so make your requests now. The promotion of the meeting via Usenet can be left to me I will do it ASAP so if there are any news groups you think would be an appropriate place to advertise let me know in the past I have announced meets to: uk.comp.os.linux alt.local.east-anglia comp.os.linux.announce (local:) and the pcplus.linux news groups are there any I have missed? All, Hello, I am writing this email from Belgium. I am sat in a field typeing this mail via a 802.11 based microwave link 0.95 miles to the nearest ISDN line. I spent a lot of time this weekend climbing a telegraph pole to fix a 14dB antennae to the top. But it works, much to the amazement of those watching. And the irony of wearing a "will work for bandwidth" T-shirt and working for a telecoms company! I will try to get to IRC tonight. Screen resolution problems

I'm posting this to the main list as I don't have the remotest idea of where to start looking for information. This is what I did, I installed Mandrake 8 on my second, (Primary slave), Hard Disk Drive, I used the expert mode in order to create a partition, I ended up with, on the first disk: Windows/Office & Mandrake 8 on the second disk: Mandrake 8 However, the computer would only boot windows on the first disk, and mandrake on the second disk, after several adventures in to Lilo, (fuelled by over confidence), I managed to get all three to boot. This was not the end of my problems as ALL the programmes Windows, Mandrakes 1 & 2 were displayed at the wrong resolution, while there start ups were in normal (800x600) resolution. Now having recklessly twiddled, I have both mandrakes displaying normally, but windows and the start up scripts for both in a small format. All help gratefully received but please remember that I need to make any corrections and I don't understand the command line, graphical solutions preffered John.

The list has moved.

This is just a final test to confirm that the list has moved to the new server at lists.alug.org.uk and changed its name to "main". I'll update the web site and add forwarding to take care of it now. You will need to visit the web site (address below) to reset any special options. We have moved between versions of mailman, so I haven't kept option settings. Regular/digest was kept, though. Apologies to digest members for the extra email. ;-)
