Hi all,
Just as I thought I had the hang of samba (fool!) I got a computer with
windows 2000 and the whole authentication thing has gone up in smoke.
If I create a mapped drive from the windows to the various samba shares on
the linux server, when I log back on next day they refuse to reconnect,
windows says "incorrect password or unknown username" and smb log says
"rejecting user 'jenny': authentication failed."
Now, even if I set a new samba password for jenny on the linux box I get
this message.
If I try to log in as a different user, the windows box say, oh, no, sorry,
"the credentials supplied conflict with a different set of credentials"
To make it worse the whole thing seems to be intermittent. And sometimes
the mapped drives will reconnect to one of the linux servers but not the
other, and the next time it will swap.
Has anyone come across problems like this using samba with windows 2000?
I'm using samba 2.0.8.
Thanks,
Jenny.
