Need advice for laptop install

Hello, I have a laptop with windows Home-XP (Which I find the most irritating of all the Windows OS's that I've ever used), the laptop has a 18 Gig disk drive. I want to repartition the drive, to keep the XP in a half the drive and install Linux on the other half. I'm not a Linux expert but want to use the laptop to get further Linux experience. In the past I have purchased various partition software manager's each time Microsoft changed something but having done that 3 times now I wonder if there is any alternative (My latest version was partition magic 4.0 which won't handle the new format NTFS that XP has been loaded with). Can anyone suggest any free software or any techniques for safely repartitioning the Laptop without reformating the existing XP partition? Thanks Karl Middleton

I daren't recompile - I just got php, postgres, apache working together after trying for a month. I danced singing round the office this morning. >....(There are debian packages for postgres, btw.) a little OT- what OS is a website running?

I had a sneaky peek at www.netcraft.com to see what some of my fave websites were running (look, I'm bored). Most, of course were running Linux or a *BSD. Netcraft has a survey of which http servers are being used (i.e. IIS or Apache). Does anyone know of a site that breaks down webservers by the OS??? Linux Boot Scripts

While browsing Mr.Gooch's website for devfs info. I noticed that he has developed a replacement set of boot scripts. <http://www.atnf.csiro.au/people/rgooch/linux/boot-scripts/index.html> I'm currently using the SysV format scripts as I prefer it to the BSD format (mainly because the SysV seems to be better structured and organised), does anyone have any strong views on SysV vs. BSD? Syleham barbeque

Hi all, Looks like I'm not going to be able to get the barbeque arranged for August as I had planned. Village Hall bookings, family holidays and other commitments are getting in the way, sorry. postgresql problems

Hullo all, I just installed postgres, and when I try to run it it is looking for /usr/lib/postgresql/bin/psql to execute the program. The path it should be looking for is /usr/local/pgsql/bin/psql. I presume that: psql points to /usr/bin/psql which is a link to pg_wrapper, which is a binary file, which presumably has the full path. How would I alter this? Thanks. Jenny.
