The venue has changed to the Queen's Arms, which should have better beer (Elgood's) and be easier to find (on the biggest road into town and nearer the trains). This meeting's theme is "new year, new people" so I hope to see people from the last two meetings again, as well as any others nearby who we've not yet met. So, has the author come out of the shadows yet? Even if only to admit it in private? Presumably we have access logs that can show information about who was accessing the site at the time(s) it was edited? Clearly it won't give names but ISP, site referral etc, would be interesting to know. IIUIC, anyone can add/edit the ALUG wiki pages, including people who are not ALUG members - is this correct? If so, I suggest that we review this whole policy. At the very least I would suggest a policy whereby anonymous pages are removed. Syd

Copying files with a specific extension

I have a /var/www directory which is a local copy of my web site. I want to copy only the .html files together with any sub-directories that contain .html files (retaining the directory structure), together with their files, into another directory. I've tried various incantations involving 'find' and can only succeed in copying files from the base directory. If someone can suggest a way to do this it would be very much appreciated. Linux Motherboard Recommendations.

Hi guys, What are you recommendations on rock solid motherboard/cpu combos for linux? Thinking for server type setups onboard everything is ok as long as it's supported. c compiler - command not found

Hi, I am trying to compile a very simple C program but the commands I use are not working. eg $ gcc firstCProgram.c or $ cc firstCProgram.c bash: command gcc/cc not found I seem to have some sort of c compiler on my system in the directory /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.1/cc1 Am I right in thinking this is a c compiler that I can use to compile my C programs? If yes, then how can I set the path so that it will work from the command line whenever I want to compile? I'm using SuSE 9.0. If this is not a C compiler after all, please tell me so and I'll install one. Regards, -- Bye, Bryce.

Would the author of http://www.alug.org.uk/contrib/?ComparisonInEastAnglia like to at least add their name to the page, please? These are North Anglia IT (NAIT) courses all at level 2."
