Newbie and upgrade of RH7.2

Hi Folks, I'm a newbie to ALUG, and relatively new to Linux too, so excuse me if this is a trivial question. I web develop for a research charity in Thetford, and have inherited a legacy linux server which handles all our online data collection (Java etc. connected to Oracle on Unix). However, we face a bit of a problem in that we run Oracle 9i Application Server on Red Hat 7.2. When some small things went wrong (or at least we could not explain), we approached Oracle for support, only to be told that they had stopped supporting this combination. As we have Oracle Support for other elements, we decided that it would be worth it upgrading the Red Hat to RH Enterprise Linux ES (small to medium servers). This way we will get two types of support. Question: How easy is it to upgrade (or migrate) to this new version? Will it involve wiping drive and starting afresh? Will we need to re-install 9iAS and all our web apps? Or is it really easy and I'm getting flustered over nothing? Hope someone can provide some opinions/feedback. Cheers Iain

Kernel 2.6 rpm

Hi I cannot download Kernel 2.6 as it is too big for my two hour cut off on my isp.(no resume). I have downloaded Kernel 2.6 RPM from Suse on a spare machine and everything seemed to work O.K. Yast autodetected my hardware and reconfigured it, every thing worked except the sound, although it reconised the soundcards I tried it was unable to configure them, it suggested the IRQ may be wrong. This is my first attempt to install a new kernel System Suse 9.0 pro 1.6 Ghz AMD Regards Nick Daniels

iptables & logs

Morning, I'm trying to track down an problem with my firewall (I'm trying to set up MASQ properly) and would like to log all traffic going through the firewall, whether it's dropped or not. Can someone tell me the appropriate command please? Secondly, I know it's simple, but I'll be damned if I can remember/find out how to do it. All the log entries from my firewall are going into /var/log/messages, but how can I set the 'puter up to put them in a file called /var/log/firewall? All the log entries start with 'FIREWALL'. cheers, BenE

nVidia/Via AGP support not working
