ICMP Failed Checksums

Has anybody come across a situation whereby the kernel generates something along the lines of in /var/log/messages:- ICMP failed checksum from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is a local (in the non-private rage) IP address. I'll be darned if I can figured out why the kernel is chucking these out. If necessary, I'll have to do a kernel rebuild. Apache guru wanted

Hi there, Anyone running apache with a domain name that has multiple sub-domains (Gareth->Linux.com, desktops.linux.com.... rings a bell)? I've got www.linuxnewbie.com working fine with documentroot pointing at /www/lnc, and I'd like to get my.linuxnewbie.com pointing at /www/lnc/my. Problem is very basic: my.linuxnewbie.com/images/ and my.lnc/whatever no longer work for obvious reason (unless I put horrible symlinks in). I gather this can be overcome with the RewriteEngine/RewriteRule directives, but Apache complains they're not recognised. This has to be a fairly basic thing to do. Anyone able to help? Corel Linux Deluxe not for Europe

Domain names OT

I know this is off topic but a good friend has asked me to register a .co.uk domain name for him. Where is the best place to do this? Didn't one of you work for an ISP in Norwich somewhere? Any advice appreciated etc. He also wants a file and print server to replace an old Mac box that has died. Samba? I think so. RC scripts

Hi all, Since I'm coding LNC every day it makes sense to get apache going on boot. However, trying to get this going through RH6.0's rc scripts is proving less than entertaining :-( In /etc/rc.d/rc.local I have put the following in: if [-f /etc/rc.d/init.d/apache ]; then /etc/rc.d/init.d/apache start fi /etc/rc.d/init.d/apache appears to be the same as other init scripts but obviously catering for apache. The variable pointing at the executable is fine, but then I don't think this is the problem since I don't receive any messages whlie booting. In fact if I didn't know better, I would think that the code above isn't being executed whatsoever. Before you ask, ls -l /etc/rc.d/init.d/apache: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 504 Oct 8 23:46 apache Can anyone make sense of this? PCAnswers CD solution?

I don't think I've seen this news posted yet: "Anyway - all the CDs are being replaced free of charge to the readers, with a few extra goodies on there to make up for the hassle. I was up in Bath sorting this wee mess out yesterday, and the new CDs are going to be ready to go by the end of next week." Is that a good solution? Folks, Does anyone know of a good FAQ for putting a SCSI CDRW into an otherwise IDE Linux box? Any recommendations for software, and other techniques?
