Sunday's meeting attendance

Who is intending to be at the meeting in Norwich on sunday? BTW it is possible that I will not be able to attend and I will not know this until saturday morning. Many apologies if this is the case and I certainly hope to be there. Is there a volunteer to collect in and pay the fifteen pounds room hire charge? Thanks Syd

If so, then apologies... Does anyone know of an easy way to extract the files from a .deb or .rpm? I want to play around with winex, but the version which gets around copy protection is only available as a debian or rpm package, and since I'm using LFS that isn't much use ;) From the depths of my memory I seem to recall a program called rpm2gz but google only throws up one result for that can't be it... anyone? please? BenE

Wanted: short talks, posters and demos on web software

As discussed at the last meeting, next month's ALUG meeting in King's Lynn will be on Wed 18 Feb and have the theme: "How The Web Works on GNU/Linux" It will be an introduction to using and creating web sites with GNU/Linux. If you can talk about something related to this for 5-20 minutes, prepare an A2 display or bring a demonstration system, please email me directly. We have some speakers, but I think it's still all quite flexible. You don't need to be a guru, just be willing to share your experiences. Plenty of help is available. Also, if you know that you want to come to the meeting (or help organise it!), please email me. Announcements of this meeting will appear in the town's libraries and computer shops this week.
