3com ethernet cards

Final question for today :) I am planning to purchase a 3com ethernet card for my Linux box (Athlon 650 - PCI card required). I know some of you have bought 3com cards in the past and was wondering what the best option was for Linux support. I have tended to use NE2000 compatible cards in the past, but recently heard that they put more load on the CPU than they are supposed to. So I thought a change to 3com would be best. Any pros or cons I should be aware of in using 3com ethernet cards with Linux? Thanks again for your help. Ashley Dr. Ashley T. Read the hardware HOWTO and www.alsa-project.org to find out if your sound card is well-supported. Depending on whether you're using the standard kernel drivers or ALSA, the setup will vary a bit. Unless something changed, the ALSA package in debian is a little out of date. Debian's own installation howto isn't bad, but remember there are lots of people around UEA to lend a hand if you hit problems. Back everything up first, though. -- MJR

IRC meeting reminders

Hi all, I forgot again as usual about the weekly irc meet, would it not be useful to others (not only me) if someone setup a job that emails the list every monday around 4-5pm'ish as a reminder that the meet is taking place, where it is etc? I could do it from a box at work but maybe the list admin (Savs or Mark?) would have a better way of doing it? Adam
