Well, the main thing to remember is that the Palm, Handspring and the newer Sony clones all use different add-on formats, although adapters for some connectors are now becoming available (according to Palm Tipsheets). Pick the one that has the right add-ons that you think you might want. On the Linux end, I have coldsync working well with a serial cradle. I don't know if USB works as well, as I don't have that. ;-)

Yes, it's Sunday 23rd July. Suggestions for what to do welcomed. I'd suggest that we try network games, as there's not going to be much life on campus to impress with wonderful science. If we do go for that, can people suggest good network games, so we can install them and then not worry about an external network? I'll start off by suggesting Dumb, the doom engine with the sanest net play. (Search freshmeat for it.)

Linux can't see all my memory

Linux only sees 64Mb of 384Mb. IIRC there is some command you can enter at the lilo prompt to correct this. Could someone please enlighten me. Cheers, BJ

Missing hdd

Another poser for the smart ones out there. :-) When I boot from a floppy I can see all my drives but booting from the /boot partition one of my IDE channels is invisible. The bios sees it but Linux does not. It isn't reported in the boot message that flashes past at break neck speed! I presume this is a kernel thing but the kernel image on the floppy should be the same as the image at /boot. They were both created when I installed, I haven't been fiddling, honest guv! Cheers, BJ

ALUG put back

Heh, typical. When I return to my office having just put the meeting back a week because no-one had objected, I didn't think there was sufficient time to publicise it, let alone organise it properly, then I find that some people have preferred to keep it this weekend. DOH! Well, sorry to those few, but it was remarkably quiet before that, so ALUG 13 is on Sunday 23rd July at 1400 in Union House at UEA. A full announcement will follow just as soon as Martyn can confirm the speaker and any facilities needed to me. Hopefully some posters will be made as soon as possible and people can help put them around local computer shops and community notice boards. MJR, again picking up the torch for an ALUG meet
