Oh, I've got vim installed too. It's OK for quick hacks, but I don't
want to try to use it for serious work -- far too often I start typing
before getting it in the right mode...

Yeah, I did that. I do find the adaptive scoring in Gnus helps me
find topics I'm interested in, as it learns as I go along (scary,
huh?).
