What are stylesheets but tweaking on a larger scale. I'm sure you
could write tex4ht stylesheets and not have to tweak at all.

That might be because greedy tables are bad. Anyway, I'm sure that
they can be done, as I've seen them done.

Hrm. I don't think it can be that new, as I'm sure we were creating
PDFs from XML some time ago. My memory is suspect, so I wouldn't like
to hazard a guess as to when exactly and I'm not going fishing the log
book for it. Definitely early this year, though.
