Not sure what your problem is but I suggest you enter the SCSI BIOS at
boot-up and carry out a complete low-level format of the disk from there
(and verification / re-mapping of faulty sectors) if you have the time. Then
re-try your installation.
BTW, I always do this before a new installation in case any new bad sectors
have turned up.
