Kind regards, Bryce <snip> Hi Bryce, There is a linux nvidia installer called NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run that you need to run. If you don't have it or can't find it, then you can download it from http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_1.0-5336.html . You will also find a link to A SUSE NVIDIA installer HOWTO document underneath the download link that explains what to do. I'm assuming that you aren't using a 64-bit processor. If you are, then go to http://www.nvidia.com and follow the relevant links. Whenever I've been in your current pedicament I've done the following - 1. Log on as root at the command line - enter su and then the root password when prompted 2. Change to runlevel 3 - enter init 3 3. Unload the nvidia module (it's never actually been loaded for me, but just in case) - enter rmmod nvidia <> 4. cd to directory that contains nvidia installer and enter sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run This will start the text-based install routine. Accept and say yes to all the questions. 5. Run Sax2 to configure your display - enter sax2 -m 0=nvidia (the 0 is a zero) Regards Chris

SUSE online update

Spam filter + evolution

I'm getting about 98% spam at the moment and i was wondering if there was a quick and easy way to setup something some spam filtering software(like spam assassin). Will it involve setting up sendmail or anything scary like that? Dennis

You don't have the option of pretty graphics on the menu but adding new kernel images is just a matter of editing a text file. I used to worry about the 1024 limit thing but when I went to grub I read something that suggested it shouldn't be a problem with newer PC hardware. Remote Calendar

I'm looking for a way of keeping an up to date calendar on my Debian/Apache/PHP/MySQL web server which I can view and edit from Linux, Windows and Mac client machines over the Internet if possible. I quite like the idea of using the Mozilla Sunbird Calendar and setting up a WebDav server on Apache. Does anyone have experience of this? Google found me a tutorial here http://www.twilight-systems.com/flacco/mozcal/mozcal-webdav.html As a bonus, what I'd *really* like to be able to do is sync the calendar with the one in my mobile phone so I can access it when I'm on the move. This is the bit that may be difficult because I'm not sure how to go about it. The phone I'm talking about is a WAP and Java enabled Siemens SL45i and has a built in Calendar which can be synchronised with Outlook. I don't want to use Outlook for obvious reasons but perhaps someone knows of a Java app for phones which can sync with Calendar software on the PC or preferably the calendar stored on my WebDav server? However, I'd rather not have to use the WAP on the mobile phone too often because it's expensive on my tarriff so perhaps I could sync that locally with one of the client machines? I suppose a more ideal solution would be buying a Zaurus to give me more options, but I don't have that kind of money :) Any ideas? deletion of source packages

Can anyone tell me where the source packages are saved to on a SuSE system when you do a YaST Online Update? I forgot to check the automatically delete source packages after completing the update process, and now I would like to manually delete the packages. problem installing jbuilder on SuSE 9.1

I get this output ./install_linux: line 930: file.lax: Read-only file system Can't load library "/media/cdrecorder/setup/jre/linux/lib/i386/libjava.so", because /media/cdrecorder/setup/jre/linux/lib/i386/libjava.so: symbol __libc_wait, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference Could not create the Java virtual machine. when running ./install_linux which is the installer script. The strange thing is that I successfully installed this thing on SuSE 9.0 without the slightest hitch. I don't understand why it doesn't work for 9.1 Can I do something about this? Also, I have installed the javaSDK on the system but this is probably irrelevant. Cheers for any help you may be able to give.
