Not sure what the subject should be!!!

Hi chaps and chappesses.. It's probably possible and really easy, but I don't know how... I want to dump a file in a directory and as soon as it appears to be executed then removed... i.e ftp a file onto a server in a particular directory, once uploaded, the file gets executed immediately... Possible yes/no? I'm sure I've heard that this can be done, just can't remember.. TIA Simon

Sounds brilliant to me - Sun 21st April, 2-6? We ought to check most people can make that so you have a nice roomful of geek-types this time. I can bring all my computers and everyone can laugh at my fetchmail config files. Last night I decided that I needed to tell fetchmail that it had to use procmail to deliver mail locally, and I then wrote what I considered to be a basic procmail file. I then expectantly fetched my mail, and sat back in joy and delight as the mail plopped into the right boxes. Two minutes later, after wondering why the computer was still scrunching , I did a ps aux, and realised exim was undergoing a new process every second or so, then on opening a groaning heaving mutt I realised I had unwittingly set up a mail loop and my mail was replicating and sending itself back to me, so i now have four copies of every message in my mailbox, great. About 4,000 mails. Back to the drawing board on that one, eh! (Mark is now going to post a message asking why on earth I was tryng to use procmail in the first place....;-) ) Jenny.

Lynn meeting?

Well when and where will it be in kings lynn? sorry i dont know if any of this has been decided yet and was just wondering what was happening(if anything)? Also just a note for the install days i think that games are a big selling point about any operating system. If your going to try and convert people then maybe you should show the average user that its posible to play games on linux. Have quake 1, 2 or 3 playing would be nice and maybe an emulator or two(xmame runing metal slug is quite nice). Darkest Kent is probably further than I would travel. There may be halls etc in Burwell, if anyone would be willing to travel my way, but they won't be free, so we'd need to know folk were definitely turning up to cover costs. Then again, if you come to Burwell, we may as well set up at my building site/ house, as long as allowances are made for the loud GP racing on telly in the corner of the living room. It's not palacial like Simon's cinema, but I have a kettle :-) The offer is there if we are completely venue-less, anyway, although I wouldn't have deemed it ideal. Jen.
