ODBC driver

Hello, all: Can anyone recommend an ODBC driver i can use on the debian box: I want to go off and access data from an ms access database held on an NT server, bring it back, and display it on a web page. I can find "libiodbc", but this seems to be a driver manager rather than a driver. Thanks, Jenny.

locale settings question

Hi all I sometimes get this error message (MDK8.0, su'd to root in a terminal window): --quote-- perl: warning: Setting locale failed. perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings: LANGUAGE = "en_GB:en", LC_ALL = (unset), LC_MESSAGES = "en_GB", LC_TIME = "en_GB", LC_NUMERIC = "en_GB", LC_CTYPE = "en_GB", LC_MONETARY = "en_GB", LC_COLLATE = "en_GB", LANG = "en" are supported and installed on your system. perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C"). --end quote-- Is it serious and what do I do about it? Incidentally I am not trying to run perl - for example, the above is part of the output in response to the supermount command. Sorry if this is a simple question but as a newbie I really have no idea where to begin. I did look at man locale and man perl but did not find anything that seemed relevant to this problem. I'm glad I didn't subscribe to this list using my work mail. All e-mail including compressed (tgz, zip, etc) attachments are scanned for viruses here, both at the mailserver, and on workstations. This particular attachment is basically malicious code as the two virus-scanners I am aware of uncompress zip files to scan them. It would have crashed our mail server, and, had it actually come through, it would have crashed my desktop machine. Had that happened, I would NOT be a happy bunny. (Understatement of the year) > (Did any OE users get that message OK... and why are you using OE?!?) Just to annoy you! ;-P Actually I don't use OE anymore, but that's not the point. Seriously, though, some of us work in multi-OS environments, including Mac and M$, and so have to use virus scanners. I suspect that it could've nailed a linux box too, seeing as Linux is perfect for a multi-OS environment, as a mail/file server, etc. I've noticed a few people using work e-mails, so let's see how good *their* scanners are... If you want to send this kind of code do it directly to the person who asked for it, please. Anyone fancy posting the NIMDA sourcecode??? >;-) ha ha. e2fsck lost+found error

Hi folks, If I run "e2fsck /dev/sda5" I get the following error: /dev/sda5 contains a filesystem with errors, check forced: Pass 1: Checking inodes, blocks and sizes Pass 2: Checking directory structure Missing '..' in directory inode 195 Fix <y>? yes Missing '..' in directory inode 196 Fix <y>? yes Pass 3: Checking directory connectivity Unmounted directory inode 195 (/???) Connect to /lost+found <y>? yes /lost+found not found. Create <y>? yes Error creating /lost+found directory (ext2fs_link): No free space in the directory I am confused. If I mount /dev/sda5 on /mnt and have a look around it, it all looks ok and if I do a df it tells me there is still plenty of free space on the partition (as I expected): Filesystem: /dev/sda5 1k-blocks: 3958767 Used: 1653871 Available: 2100069 Use%: 44% Anyone know how I can correct this "lost+found" error? mail clients

Sidestepping the current debate.... ;) Has anyone got any suggestions for a mail client that suits these criteria: 1. Can handle HTML, but needs to send in either html or text (actually only needs to send in text). 2. Can handle MIME attachments. 3. GUI based, but not desktop environment specific (i.e. not Kmail or Evolution). I use WindowMaker as a window manager, and both those products crash at unexpected times outside their cde. 4. Not Mozilla Messenger or Nestscrape Msgr.(These seem a little shaky to me too- although I'm still on Netscrape 4.77) It *doesn't* need to handle news, or have a calender, or an organiser, or wash my dishes. :) Just a mail client. Boot scripts

Hi folks I have a linux box running RH6.x that I want to have booting directly in to X-windows without having to log in first. The various network services still need to be started so that I can telnet in - Question is, in what order are the start up scripts run, and which one(s) do I need to hack to skip the login ? Or better still, where can I find documents on the boot sequence ? Regards, Paul.

Touchscreens for the microwave.

Hi Folks I finally sorted the touchscreen out that I had at the meeting yesterday. A case of not reading my XF86Config notes properly. Had missed the "AlwaysCore" option from the XInput section ! At least the driver I had to write works fine against a fresh install of linux and XFree86-3.3.5. Regards, Paul.

Can I thank all those who responded to my requests for help, both those who responded via the list and those who responded privately. The question on swap space seems to have prompted a discussion which I am watching with interest, but not necessarily understanding completely. On the matter of booting multiple `Linux' distributions it would appear that just continuing with Lilo is enough, which in view of my steep `Linux' learning curve so far, seems far, far too easy........
