I agree, the version of Netscape (6.2 I think) I downloaded on Sunday loads up faster, and parses web pages faster than Netscape 4.77. Im also guessing that its got alot of problems as no distro i know of has it... but then im not 100% about that :) oh and im in hte same boat i upgraded from a 486DX4 100MHz to a P 133, and i agree mozila is very slow. UK LUG Distribution specific mailing lists

Yes, Mozilla has only recently started to get fast enough for decent use. I'm not sure how it'll fare on a P166, but like Netscape 4 before it, memory is the real limit. You can dress Mozilla up in a light front-end such as Skipstone, which is something you couldn't do with NN4. You might like to take a look at "dillo", which is a very fast browser that will display pages, although it's still a long way from supporting enough to render them all correctly. It also misses JavaScript, cookies, etc, so you'll need another browser on-hand for some sites. Another option is to add an offline browsing cache, such as wwwoffle, to your current setup. That has its own quirks, but it's quite useful. -- MJR

I wrote the line suggested by Mark into my /etc/fstab file, and made a new directory `floppy' in both the root and user home directories, but on trying to mount the floppy I received the message `mount, mount point /floppy does not exist'. The failure of the other entries I made were usually due to the same failure. There must be something blindingly obvious I've missed somewhere, if someone feels able to point me in the right direction I'd be extremely grateful. Please excuse my gross ignorance. John seago

If the directory 'floppy' is in your home directory, don't you want to be doing mount /dev/fd0 /home/john/floppy ? That appends the contents of your floppy into the directory 'floppy' Jen. Apologies, Double Post

Imust apologise for double posting the same question to the list. I assumed as the first one did not appear in the next list, or the following one that it had not arrived, therefore I posted an ammended version on Sunday. I have found various suggestions for an /etc/fstab entry that will enable me to access, read and write to and from the floppy in various places on newsgroups and Slackware related sites, however none of them seem to actually work, (they probably do, I expect it's mainly incompetence on my part).
