Actually, given the derivation of UNIX daemons, were they not dependable
creatures many people would have been bothered by their absence. The
demon of gravity, for example, provides us with much needed traction,
while the demon of oxidation keeps our tootsies warm in the winter.
Then again, I can't think of anyone who would miss Maxwell's Daemon -
the daemon of perversity.
