You're mistaken. Most everyone in ALUG has a telephone, but it's not on-topic for main, no matter how badly BT mess about. You should have seen the list description at the address in every email from the list:
This list should be used for anything else that doesn't fit into the other list categories. This is the place to discuss anything and everything that would be considered off-topic on the other lists.
