Argghh, my Palm has done something nasty to me and I have tried looking all over google and can't find any help, if you know of any good mailing lists let me know!!
Anyway the screen on my Palm Vx has got badly out of calibration so bad I had to back the thing up and do a hard reset. After the reset and re-calibration it worked fine so I restored my backup and the problem resurfaced :-( after playing around with the various .prc files that are installed and not restoring things like the saved preferences it still will screw up after I restore all of my data which I need.
If anyone knows of some software that can help me out of my predicament or a good newsgroup/website or anything that will help please let me know, I don't want to have to go and buy a Palm M505.

Bloody hell I was playing around with mine today and my screen is way out of calibration. I have to tap at leat one line above what I should. I'm sure It wasn't like this the other day. What have you done to it Adam? This myst be a phantom virus transmitted via brain waves or something, either that or my Vx is coming out in sympathy with yours.
Seriously though is this a common problem with Palms?
Cheers, BJ

Apparantly the V series needs calibration more often than all of the others from what I have read on usenet in the past. The trouble with mine is it is reading 2 lines too high so I can't get the drop down for calibration.
I still have to try what Mark suggested but this is going to take some time as I have ~100 apps and databases on my palm :-( What I found interesting is that I havn't installed any new software or made any changes to the palm, it just happened without warning!

Can you not re-calibrate from the 'Welome' icon in the home screen?

Oh well, I just got back from a weekend away and the screen now appears to be totally broken :-( Now tapping anywhere on the screen results in the clicks not responding to anything like where they should, and a hard reboot results in the same.
/me wants ideas for a replacement.
I already have a Ericson MC218 (same as a Psion 5Mx) but it doesn't have tools like ssh (essential) and a utility like strip (open source password encrypter) so this cannot really be a replacement unless you know better.
I am now thinking of an Ipaq as I am disappointed with how long my Palm lasted (18 months) with not much abuse.
Does anyone have any good suggestions for a replacement?
